St Mary’s Nursing Home is steeped in history and this very location has provided care to hundreds of men, women and children over the past century. The current home is built on the site of the former St Mary’s hospital which was originally an isolation hospital dating back to 1912, before it subsequently became a maternity hospital from 1948 until the 1970’s.

The property was then taken over by Simon Northover and his family in 1985, and they converted two of the existing wards into accommodation ready for St Mary’s Nursing Home to open in 1986. A few years later in 1992, work began to redevelop the site to create a purpose built setting after the team identified the need to provide single room en suite accommodation rather than shared wards. St Mary’s was then painstakingly refurbished before its grand reopening in 1994 to reveal the brand new facilities and lovingly tended gardens that our residents and their families enjoy today.

Here at St Mary’s we have a close knit team of medical professionals, nurses, carers and cooks that work together to serve you and your family with excellence and expertise throughout your time with us.
