Here at St Mary’s we place great importance on meeting the spiritual, emotional, mental and physical needs of our residents and so we ensure that all our staff are trained to the highest standards to provide an exemplary level of care. Every staff member receives regular mandatory training which includes Moving and Handling, Fire Regulations,Dementia Awareness, Infection Control, Safeguarding Adults, MCA and Food Hygiene and all staff are trained to provide Basic Life Support..

All new team members complete a comprehensive 12 week induction programme which includes aspects of knowledge, practical skills and understanding across the 15 standards of care which are identified throughout the Care Certificate. We offer our staff professional training to diploma level 2 with progression to Level 3 in the Diploma in Health and Social Care for all Senior Support Workers.  Staff are encouraged to maintain their continued professional development and are supported by our full time Training Support Facilitator, Sue Jones, who will identify the training needs with each individual.

Our Registered Nurses maintain their professional development through external accredited training courses recognised by the Royal College of Nursing. Registered Nurses are also supported by our Clinical Lead Nurses for their revalidation every three years.
